August 3rd 2009 - Launch event in Caernarfon for the "From Scrap to Steam in 27 days" appeal in support of the restoration of NG15 no. 134.

August 14-16th 2009 - Garratt 100 event at the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) in Manchester, celebrating 100 years of the Garratt locomotive. WHR Garratt K1, the first ever Garratt, will be attending the event. On its way back to the WHR on August 17th, K1 will return to its birthplace and will be photographed outside the former boiler shops at Gorton Works, 100 years to the day after the newly assembled K1 was first steamed there.
