As a consequence of its use by Gwynedd Council’s Highways Dept, the exchange goods shed at Dinas survived almost intact and its restoration was an early project of the WHR Heritage Group. Thanks to the generosity of Michael Schumann it was possible to re-roof it fully with Welsh slate.
The restoration earned the Ian Allan Heritage Award in 2000
Originally there was an exchange platform inside, complete with a crane long since lost. The interior now provides valuable covered space for storage, restoration work and events such as the annual Rail Ale Festival.
