The WHR is privileged to have three types of articulation in operation during 2011. Apart from the double (and single) Fairlies and the Garratts the railway is host to a visiting loco from the Statfold Barn Railway. This is the 2 ft gauge Jung "Mallet" 0-4-4-0TT 4878 of 1930 that completed its restoration at Statfold in 2010. The loco was built for use on the Jatibarang Brebes Sugar Mill Railway in Indonesia , where it carried No. 9.
The Mallet arrived at Dinas in the morning of April 8th 2011. It was promptly reunited with it's tender and in the afternoon had a fire lit for the onward journey over the WHR to Boston Lodge. The sequence of photographs below show the day's events.
The following day on the 9th April the loco took a trial train consisting of FR vintage stock from Porthmadog to Rhyd Ddu and back. The photograph shows it crossing Britannia Bridge on the way to Rhyd Ddu.
