Special Events at the WHR

This area of the site provides a record of major special events at the WHR which merit a more substantial record than just an entry in the News area of the site. These include the September weekends which have come to be the line's main annual events, and also other major highlights.

April 14th 2012 - The Snowdonian. A special train traversing the entire FR and WHR to raise funds for developing the railway.

September 9th to 11th 2011 - Superpower Weekend

April 7th 2009 - Reopening to Beddgelert.

February 28th 2009 - the "Golden Bolts" ceremony.

September 5-7th 2008 - Garratt Fifty Gala.

September 8-9th 2007 - "Join In" Weekend.

March 24th 2007 - Phase 4 Sponsors' Day.

September 9-10th 2006 - Super Power Weekend/Rhyd Ddu 125.

September 16-18th 2005 - Super Power Weekend.

September 11-12th 2004 - Super Power Weekend.

May-June 2004 - the WHR at Railfest in York.

May 2004 - Interactive Weekend III.

September 2003 - Super Power Weekend.

August 2003 - Opening to Rhyd Ddu.

July 2003 - The Royal Visit, when HRH Prince Charles inaugurated Phase 3.

May 2003 - Steam Adventure Week, with Linda working some trains and Stanhope also visiting.

September 2002 - Superpower Weekend, with the longest trains yet run on the WHR.

September 2001 - Vintage Weekend, featuring Prince and Taliesin.

September 2000 - Welsh Highland Ffestival 2000, when Russell returned to Dinas

August 2000 - Reopening to Waunfawr.

September 1998 - Enthusiasts' Weekend, with the first double-headers, and the first visiting locos.
